Mostly, I watch Eureka (the Syfy show, not Eureka Seven). But since it'll be gone in two weeks (sob ;__;) I think it's time to pick up something other… things. (In case you're curious, at this point I only care about the women and a little bit about Fargo. And yes, I am planning to rewatch the whole show and fic the shit out of it, but not until the cancellation sting wears off a bit.)
I like Star Trek (TOS, TNG, and especially DS9), Stargate (the film, SG-1, and Atlantis), Star Wars (every part of the canon except for a couple gaps in my knowledge due to not having read all the Clone Wars books or seen the animated series), Law & Order: SVU (I watched the first 10 seasons in one summer but I'm not up-to-date), Supernatural (Tumblr sucked me in), The X-Files (I've been slowly making my way through it on Netflix), Doctor Who (all of New Who), Assassin's Creed (II and Brotherhood, although I downloaded a copy of the first game forever ago and I've been meaning to buy a CD big enough to hold it (~7 GB) so I can actually play it), Durarara! (I got to episode 19 (I think?) last summer and I think I'm going to start over tomorrow), and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle (which, it's been 3+ years since I've interacted with this fandom in any way, but I want to get back into it, so, there's one more thing to watch from the beginning again! \o/).
Today I started Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, because Netflix recommended it to me (based on my interest in Black Butler, I assume?). It's a 6-episode anime about an immortal lady detective with long green hair and cute glasses and huge tits. She has a childlike (but apparently very old) sidekick with pink hair. There are some men, too, but who cares? And there is an adorable fat cat. But uh, most importantly, there is a lot of sexualized violence, so seriously, if you are squicked or triggered by large amounts of blood, by body horror (severed limbs, a visibly broken bone, and zombies that are actually freaky), or nonconsensual bondage/piercing (of sensitive areas)/kissing/groping, stay away from this show. But it's pretty hot. (I would feel skeevy about cis dudes getting off on this stuff the way I get off on it, though.) Oh, and there are ladies consensually fondling each other! Can't forget that. :)
I watched the first few episodes of Buffy the other day to see what all the fuss was about, and honestly I couldn't stand it. Which may be due in part to my preexisting impassioned hatred of Joss Whedon and his particular brand of blithering, self-congratulatory, tokenizing faux-feminist bullshit, but, like… it's just so objectively offensive.
For example! We get a whole scene dedicated to Buffy trying on different clothes and criticizing every single outfit she sees because of some negative assumption she makes re: what other people will think about her sexuality if she wears it, and not in a she's-genuinely-concerned-about-it kind of way, but in the kind of way where she holds up a dress (that she must have liked for herself, because she owns it!) and mockingly introduces herself in the mirror with "Hi, I'm a giant slut!".
I'm sure a lot of teen girls in the '90s really did think that way, but her whole sex-negative spiel doesn't come across as a character flaw so much as it comes across as a piece of the writer's own outlook on life artificially jammed into the script for no other reason than to showcase his hatred of women. Seriously, Joss, your first name might as well be "Gross" instead. Gross Whedon. That's more like it. Also, go fuck yourself.
I'm giving it a few more episodes (maybe one lazy-day marathon), but at this point I think the only way this show could possibly be salvaged would be for Xander and Angel to get killed off and for Buffy and Willow to make out. But I don't think that happens. (?)
…I think that's it.
Oh, and before I go: did I write anything for kink_bingo today? Haha, nope! But I did yoga and Turbo Kick and cycling and some weightlifting (190 lbs on the leg press—new PR!), so… you know. It all evens out. I'm going to dick around with the guro square and see if inspiration strikes (because that piercing scene in the first episode of Rin was seriously hot).
Also, check out my girl fragilebones's new fic, All the Stars in Texas, which I may or may not have been the final proofreader for. It is good! I can personally vouch for it!
